Shiprock Star Trails (of course, Topazed).  Shiprock NM

This image is a compilation of hundreds of images stacked together
in StarStax. Mike Shaw and I (assisting) scouted where to
position ourselves so the North Star would be at the tip of Shiprock's
pinnacle. It's not so easy to figure out but do-able.

Afterwards, I stacked the images in StarStax and developed with a
good pinch of Topaz B/W. In addition, I used Tony Kuyper's
luminosity panels.
Sunset at Bisti.   Bisti NM

This image was taken at Bisti with Nikon 810, 35-70mm, ISO 1600
and the famous Hoya FL-W filter which I am never without. I loved
watching the moon's progress over the silouhetted outlines.
Meteor over Cracked Eggs-Version 1.   Bisti, NM

I was shooting a timelapse and just happened to capture this
very bright meteor streaking towards earth. It literally lit up
the whole sky.  This version is darker. Also note that in the lower
corners you might see some reddish remnants from our headlamps
that sport safe RED lights. I tried with some PS magic to desaturate
corners. Take home message: get use to night light and forget any
lights.
Meteor over Cracked Eggs-Version 2.   Bisti, NM

I was shooting a timelapse and just happened to capture this
very bright meteor streaking towards earth. It literally lit up
the whole sky. This version is lighter. In real time, the scene
wasn't this light but at least you can see the cracked eggs.
Also note that in the lowercorners you might see some reddish
remnants from our headlamps that sport safe RED lights. I tried with
some PS magic to desaturate corners. Take home message: get use
to night light and forget any lights.
Iconic Limb at Spring Creek Resort on Olympic Peninsula.

This waterfront resort outside of Aberdeen WA is a marvelous get
away. We had a porch to set up cameras. I thought no moon, real
dark and lots of stars. However I was not planning on the working
fishing boats that were busy all night long. There were four of them.
You can see the spot lights on the horizon. In spite of this, the night
sky was enchanting.
Rialto Beach Blue Hour.  Rialto Beach WA

First time doing night shoots. Started with sunset and some long
exposures. I was all thumbs. Nice blurring of waters plus faint
star glimmers and Venus being right out there.
Mt Rainier. Bright light on mountain was from climbers heading to
submit. Image taken around 2 am.
Looking East from Mt Rainier towards Yakima, WA where light
pollution is coming from. Milky Way present.
Rialto Beach looking towards La Push, WA

Shooting the night sky for first time. Didn't understand how
pronounced the lights from La Push WA would be.
